We are looking for a Director of technology that loves shepherding projects, large and small, from start to finish and wants to be an early member of a tightknit core team that will have the chance to strategize, architect and build the framework of a rapidly growing digital network and platform.
Our products and services rely heavily on our custom built systems; we’re a tech first company and attempt to have as much control and flexibility as possible in our web apps and backend. You should enjoy getting your hands dirty coding, problem solving, leading and mentoring teams, and fostering innovative thinking. You will have the opportunity to define how we work as a team and architect services that are at the forefront of an elevated user experience (shipping, communications, payments, fulfillment, insights, networks, marketing, etc..)
You'll be working in a high energy, fast paced, open office environment where you’ll interact directly with just about everyone. This role is a leadership role that will also require getting hands dirty in the code, that has a lot of ability to directly disrupt aspects of oral care that have been overlooked historically, and to be a part of building a platform and website to become the largest in the category (or so is the task at hand!). This is a full time in-office position.
Director of Technology:
Work in tandem with the founders to identify and road map digital strategy, both to optimize current services and to identify opportunities ripe for innovation.
Awareness of tech trends that would impact the business, ensure that our offerings and tech services are accessible and cutting edge
Integrate our applications with 3rd party API’s, keep encapsulation at front of mind to prevent us from becoming bound to any one partner
Transfer business goals to technology goals, prioritize development initiatives and schedules accordingly
Direct experience developing and executing information security plans and testing environments
Keep an ear to the ground for what’s new and could be incorporated to keep quip at the forefront and have oversee their implementation
Communicate quip technology strategy and innovations to investors, management, customers and team
Review and approve proposed development releases and manage the release process.

Our front facing product is a beautifully simple electric toothbrush and toothpaste set that are refreshed automatically on a 3-monthly schedule. quip is far more than just an ecommerce brand, we are building an online oral care knowledge base and dental professional platform to simplify all aspects of our member’s oral care. Our HQ is in a window filled corner office in DUMBO, Brooklyn home of many creative companies, great views and more importantly, lots of pizza and a shake shack! We are closest to the High Street stop on the A/C line, York Street stop on the F, and the Clark Street stop on the 2/3.
