Full Stack Web Developer


We are looking for a Full Stack Web developer that loves taking projects all the way from start to finish and wants to be an early member of a tightknit core team that will have the chance to own significant parts of a rapidly growing online digital platform. Our products and services rely heavily on our custom built systems; we’re a tech first company and attempt to have as much control and flexibility as possible in our web apps and backend.  You should enjoy problem solving and creative thinking. You will have many opportunities to work with tech and services that are at the forefront of an elevated user experience (shipping, communications, payments, fulfillment, insights, networks, marketing, etc..)

You'll be working in a high energy, fast paced, open office environment where you’ll interact directly with everyone from the CEO to the fulfillment manager and there will be a constant demand to deepen and broaden your skills. We will be growing the team at a good pace in the near future, so for the right candidate, this position represents an ability to show strong leadership in building one of the largest websites of it’s category in the world. This is a full time in-office position.

Full Stack Dev Duties:

  • Design and develop features for the rails apps that make up quip’s products and services
  • Integrate our applications with 3rd party API’s, keep encapsulation at front of mind to prevent us from becoming bound to any one partner
  • Manage work flow to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Write thorough tests for features that are structured enough to serve as documentation
  • Keep an ear to the ground for what’s new and could be incorporated to keep quip at the forefront and have the initiative to take ownership over their implementation

This might describe you:

  • 3 years or more web development experience
  • Expert in the following:
    • Ruby/Ruby on Rails
    • TDD/BDD
    • Javascript, JQuery
    • CSS / HTML
    • Git
    • Heroku
  • Great with system management and monitoring technologies
  • Communicate clearly and consistently, written and verbal skills to match
  • Desire to leverage past experience to make a business impact
  • Hold a BA/BS in computer science, or 6+ years’ professional experience if without

Our HQ is in a window filled corner office in DUMBO, Brooklyn home of many creative companies, great views and more importantly, lots of pizza and a shake shack! We are closest to the High Street stop on the A/C line, York Street stop on the F, and the Clark Street stop on the 2/3.
